City Oval Pietermaritzburg Pitch Report
the Pietermaritzburg stadium was built in 1888 and its capacity is 12000, hence it can be called a small stadium.
Currently it is very difficult to report on the Pietermaritzburg pitch because international one day matches were played here only in the 2003 World Cup.we can say its batting friendly pitch.
Generally Batsman-friendly: The City Oval is known for being a pitch that favors batsmen. Scores tend to be on the higher side, and the pitch doesn’t offer too much assistance to bowlers early on.
Balanced for T20s and ODIs: While batsman-friendly, it seems to be fairly balanced for both T20 and ODI matches. This means bowlers do get their chance later in the innings.
The first match was played between India and Nambia which was won by India. Sachin Tendulkar scored 152 runs. And Saurav Galanguli also scored 112 runs and India won the match by 181 runs.
Whereas the second match was played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh which was won by Sri Lanka. Chaminda was taking 6 wickets and Sri Lanka won the match by 10 wickets.
